Non-violence resistance parental support is a therapeutic approach for families where violent, aggressive or controlling behaviours cause relationship difficulties between parents and children. Maybe your son or daughter is being physically aggressive towards you, maybe they are defying boundaries by staying out past curfews you have set, or maybe they are becoming increasingly more controlling or verballing aggressive at home.
Non-violence resistance parental support could help. We are offering one-to-one sessions either in person or via zoom, to talk about the challenges you are facing, explore your own emotions and responses and using NVR principles to explore ways of resisting the violent behaviours. We will look at the principles around increasing parental presence to strengthen parent-child relationships, self-care for you as a parent, developing your network of support to break down the secrecy and hiddenness around the aggressive behaviours and empowering you to resist these behaviours safely.
We recommend around 6-10 sessions, depending on your individual needs. We will talk through some of the techniques used in NVR therapy such as announcements, sit ins, reconciliation gestures and de-escalatory approaches. The pace and structure of the sessions will be focused on individuals, creating a safe space for parents to share their experiences and challenges and empowering them to change for themselves.
