Play Therapy

Play Therapy for children

We work with children one-to-one or in small groups offering Play Therapy to help them explore and express their emotions. Our principal and founder is an accredited play therapist, trained with PLAY THERAPY UK, and registered with BACP. She has been working with children for a number of years using non-directive play therapy approaches.

Play Therapy is based on Virginia Axline’s (1969) eight key principles, where we adopt a non-judgmental approach, allowing the child to lead the session at their pace, set clear boundaries appropriate to the needs of the individual and enable them to explore and express their emotions and have these validated. In turn this helps children express themselves and find ways of coping with their difficulties.

Play therapy can help children for lost of different reasons including children who have witnessed domestic abuse, dealing with family separation, drug and alcohol addictions, bereavement, and diagnosis of physical and mental disabilities, bullying, low self-esteem, anger issues and/or family breakdowns.  If you have any questions regarding your child please give us a call on 07720970717 and we will be happy to talk through the support we can offer.

If you would like to make a referral please click here.

Individual sessions are charged at £40-£50 per session. This also includes parent meetings.  Subsidised sessions are available through our hope fund.  Contact us for more information.

All referrals are for a minimum of 12 sessions.

Family Therapy

Family systemic therapy sessions

These sessions are for the whole family, or groups within the family targeting specific issues. The aim of these is to help you find restoration and deeper understanding of each other’s needs.  Whether you are struggling with communication, been through a traumatic event which is impacting you as a family, or just need a space to come to talk and explore feelings and emotional responses within your family, systemic family sessions can help.

Our systemic practitioner will carry out these sessions.  Initial assessment sessions will take place to see what your needs are as a family and how we can best support you and work together.  This work is based on a collaborative approach, exploring making meaning and resolving issues together as a family,

The cost for this service is between £45 - £60 per session.  Subsidised sessions are available through our hope fund.  Contact us for more information.

These can take place in schools, family home or neutral location as agreed with therapist and family.
